The Technical Description

These processes are to increase the bulk for comfort, resilience to provide stretch to the yarn. It is a part of the polymer faction of the carpet sector as it is made from filaments that are formed by extruding polymer solution through the spinneret. The number of orifices (openings or vents) in the spinneret dictates the number of filaments in the bunch. The drawing of the bunch will directly decide the diameter of the filament. Then the filaments are cut and crimped according to the required length.

The process of its production differs from the continuous filament in the aspect that it is made by melting synthetic fiber like nylon into fine filaments. Then these filaments are heated, cooled, and grooved to acquire the necessary strength and gain other physical characteristics. Then the fibers are cut into 7-8 inches of length, packed in bunches, and processed to the spinneret to process into yarn.

Whereas continuous filament yarn is not created from 7- or 8-inch length strands but as a single long string. These strings are then twisted and heated together to form sturdy strands of yarn.

According to need, these strands may be curled or kinked, which increases the bulk ratio and gives the yarn more memory for superior texture quality and resistance.

Another big competitor of the Continuous filament is the wool yarn-based product. Wool-based carpets are made from one of the two weaving techniques that are hand-woven and machine-woven. 

The hand-woven technique uses pure wool, applied with dye with modern techniques to get unfading in normal conditions color. Then patterns are knit skillfully then flattened and rimmed with special machines. This method is inefficient for bulk wholesale because of the high cost of production and all the processes concerned.

The machine-woven technique has features identical to the previous flat and trim surface, good gloss, and durability. Its manufacturing cost is considerably less than the hand-woven ones making them a better universal product.
